Finding
Peace
with God
God’s Purpose: God loves you and created you for a relationship with Him:
Jesus tells us, "God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
What is eternal life? “This is the way to have eternal life—to know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. (John 17:3)
Man's Problem: Because of sin all people are separated from that relationship with God:
"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
Man was created to have fellowship with God; but, because of his own stubborn self-will, he chose to go his own independent way and fellowship with God was broken.
“It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore. ( Isaiah 59:2)
There is a price we pay because of sin: "The wages of sin is death" [spiritual separation from God].” (Romans 6:23)
God’s Provision: Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man's sin.
Only through Jesus can we know God personally and experience His love.
"God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).
Jesus died for our sins, He was buried, and rose again on the third day that we might once again have the opportunity for a relationship with God.
Jesus is the only way back to a relationship with God.
"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me'" (John 14:6).
God’s Plan: We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; then we can know God personally and experience His love.
So, what do we need to do to have peace with God?
Admit you are a sinner and that your sin has separated you for God and “repent” that means to turn from sin and self and turn to Jesus Christ.
Believe with all your heart that Jesus is God provision for your sin and that He died for you and rose again on the third day and has ascended to Heaven where He “ever lives to make intercession for you”.
Confess that Jesus is both Lord and Savior by praying and receiving Him into your life.
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
“To all who have received him—those who believe in his name—he has given the right to become God’s children.” (John 1:12)
